The course provides training that is focused on teaching short taster sessions such as those delivered in activity centres, School Teachers, Country Park Rangers, Youth Leaders; it is predominantly practical in nature, uses professional learning resources and offers improved training for candidates.

  • Establishing and maintaining safety on a range
  • Using a session plan to prepare and deliver a session
  • Identifying appropriate equipment for beginners to use
  • Explaining / demonstrating the simple steps to shooting barebow
  • Using engagement, variety and challenge to make sessions fun

How long does the course take?

The award takes 2.5 days to complete. (approx. 2 days of training followed by an external assessment)

Outcomes of the course and renewal?

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded a certificate of achievement and become an Archery GB qualified Instructor. To keep the qualification valid, every three years candidates will need to complete a short renewal process. This demonstrates that you understand the minimum safety requirements for instructing archery.
