South East Lancashire Orienteering Club welcomes novice and elite navigators and has a membership area concentrated around Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Bolton & Wigan. SELOC is one of the oldest established clubs in the sport. It was formed in 1966 and was a founder member of the North West Orienteering Association (NWOA) and both are members of British Orienteering, the governing body of the sport in the UK. Newcomers to orienteering can read all about the sport in the clubs Information Pack, or Oli Johnson’s Beginners Guide to Orienteering. A SELOC Social Night is held on the first Thursday of every month from about 9.00 p.m. onwards, at the Astley Bridge Bowling Club (off the A666, 0.5km North of Bolton ring road). Contact Roy Stevenson to arrange signing-in to the club. The SELOC Christmas Event is being held at Heaton Park, North Manchester - Parking at Grid Reference SD825047. Courses will be either a 45 minute Score event or map memory for those familiar with the area, with a mass start at 10.30. The event will be followed by a Christmas meal at TGI Fridays, which is 10 minutes from the parking area at Heaton Park, just off Junction 17 of the M60, first right off Bury New Road then right at the roundabout. Check the Menu and decide what you want, then please return the Meal Pre-order Form and deposit to Caroline before the 12th December 2008.
