A low cost Camping Barn (away from Bowley) in the heart of the Ribble Valley close to Bashall Eaves. The barn has been further developed during 2004 with the addition of a new wooden sleeping platform and new entrance doors. The Area Much of North Lancashire is left unknown and unspoilt. The area of the Ribble Valley offers a very beautiful area to walk, cycle and camp. The area is bounded to the north by the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty. To the south the Forest of Trawden, the West Penine Moors, Pendle Hill and the Ribble, Calder and Hodder rivers. If you are looking for somewhere to try some adventurous activities or want to get away from it all .. this really is the place to come. Expeditions for your Dof E awards etc. can all be completed in the area, using this accommodation in conjunction with YHA barns, Bowley Scout Camp and Activity Centre, Waddow Hall Guide Camp and Waddecar Scout Camp. The camping barn can be described as a ‘stone tent’, and as such you will need to bring some equipment except your tent. Facilities are fairly basic, they compromise a kitchen area with cooker, microwave and hot water boiler, wooden sleeping platform (on the floor), tables and chairs for eating , a supply of cold running water and flush toilets. Please note there is no heating in the barn. The barn can be booked for sole use by groups. Young people under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Parking at the barn is limited to 3 vehicles. The camping barn is beautifully located around 11/2 miles from the village of Bashall Eaves attached to Sandal Holme Farm. The barn overlooks Longridge Fell. Visitors who wish to run an expedition around the Ribble Valley can also take advantage of the YHA camping barns in the area and Bowley Scout Camp. The barn is also an excellent location for field study trips and for day use by schools and colleges. OS sheet 103 GR677437 |
